Moses Yoseph of AUP named one of 2011 ‘three most outstanding int’l students in the Phils.‘
December 12, 2011 - 10:59am | Dr. Romeo Barrios and AUP International Students Association (ISA) Adviser

Moses Yoseph,19, AUP junior A.B. Theology student from Tanzania, is proclaimed as one of the 2011 Three Most Outstanding International Students in the Philippines by the Philippine International Friendship Organization (PIFO). The awarding ceremony was held on December 2, 2011 at the University of Baguio, Baguio City.

Yoseph also bagged the Friendship Award, one of the two special awards given annually aside from Best in Talent. Friendship award is determined by the votes given by the finalists themselves during the screening. The three winners are all equal in rank, title, and recognition. The two other winners are Baraka Muvuka (Congo), Silliman University, Dumaguete City and Samuel Appiah Kusi (Ghana), St. Louis University, Baguio City. Other contestants come from De La Salle University – Manila, University of Baguio, Far Eastern University, University of Northern Philippines, University of the Philippines-Diliman, Angeles University Foundation, University of Santo Tomas, Central Luzon State University, and FEU East Asia College.

The final screening was done on the significant date – 11.11.11 - at Far Eastern University, Manila. The 12 finalists underwent different types of assessments by separate sets of judges including a panel interview, written examination, talent showcase, and extemporaneous speech.

The award is the second in a row for AUP because last year (2010), Wayne Allain Brady Ramschie (Indonesia) also won the most outstanding international student and the friendship awards – consistently on top, ever onward and shining for the Lord!

PIFO was founded in 1952 by Mr. Ben Mahinay and the recent awarding marks its 42nd search which began in 1994. AUP ranks second (next to University of the Philippines) among the top 5 schools in medal standing with most number of winners.

Winning in PIFO’s annual search becomes a regular phenomenon for AUP. In fact, there was a time when AUP (PUC then) won four consecutive years, from 1988 to 1991, in a row! And Moses Yoseph’s recent success is AUP’s 15th medal out of PIFO’s 42 annual searches. Praise God for AUP!
